Indonesian Police Ensure Personnel Examination in Aceh Is Conducted Professionally and Transparently

JAKARTA, Judicialjustice.com – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the examination process involving its personnel is conducted professionally, objectively, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The statement comes amid public attention over reports that the Banda Aceh Police Chief, along with the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Banda Aceh Police, was brought to Jakarta by a team from the National Police Headquarters on Wednesday (August 5).

Head of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General of Police Jhonny Edison Isir, said that every piece of information emerging in the public would be followed up through established mechanisms, while upholding professionalism, accountability, and the presumption of innocence.

“Every process carried out by Polri against its personnel is part of the internal supervision and enforcement mechanism. All processes are conducted professionally, objectively, and in accordance with applicable regulations,” Jhonny said.

He explained that the ongoing process was initiated following information and public reports submitted to the police. Every report or piece of information received from the public, he said, would be reviewed and followed up according to established procedures.

“Public participation is an important element in supporting the duties of the police. Every piece of information submitted will be responded to professionally and objectively, based on facts and available evidence,” he said.

Jhonny also emphasized that Polri is exercising caution in providing information to the public to avoid interfering with the ongoing process or creating confusion over unverified reports.

He said public participation in submitting information and reports reflects public concern and expectations for a more professional, accountable, and trusted police institution.

Polri views the relationship between the public and the police as a strategic partnership in maintaining public security and order while strengthening accountability in law enforcement. Therefore, every piece of information submitted by the public will be handled seriously, professionally, and proportionally in accordance with applicable regulations.

“Polri will provide an explanation to the public at the appropriate time, in line with developments in the ongoing process and applicable regulations. We urge the public to wait for official information from Polri and not to speculate about unverified information,” Jhonny said.

Polri further assured that developments in the process would be made public once they meet the requirements for disclosure. Any updates will be delivered officially by the relevant unit handling the process, in accordance with the applicable stages and procedures.

“We are committed to providing the public with official updates on developments that can be disclosed. Transparency is part of Polri’s efforts to maintain accountability and ensure that the public receives accurate and responsible information,” he concluded.
